Responsibilities

General Summary: Ensures the smooth, efficient patient care flow through all of Perioperative Services and the Operating Room. Facilitates workflow in the department by supporting Anesthesia clinical coordinators, charge nurses, surgeons and additional faculty and staff. Prioritizes critical patient cases and communication of emergency Operating Room changes and fluctuations. Ensures the timely and efficient functioning of this large and diverse suite of operating rooms and ectopic surgical locations through the flawless flow of communication.

Essential Functions

• Functions as the primary liaison between all levels of staff and faculty in and out of the Operating Room while demonstrating an elevated level of timely, efficient and diverse communication in a control desk of Operating Room and ectopic surgical locations.
• Maintains the White Board in collaboration with the Anesthesia Clinical Coordinator and Charge Nurse, with appropriate follow-through as necessary.
• Triages patient calls, assess the clinical urgency of every patient, and determines the appropriate action, while communicating all changes to necessary clinical staff and faculty.
• Maintains the manual Operating Room schedule to ensure an ever-present back up in the event of electrical or computer failure.
• Assesses and triages all Operating Room calls, pages, and STAT calls, books emergent cases and communicates and coordinates appropriate faculty and staff, including off-shifts and next-day cases.
• Initiates the printing and organizing of the next day's patient call slips and wristbands.
• Serves as point person for handling complaints from patients, faculty, nursing, and anesthesiology.
• Answers incoming phone calls in the communications center, routing calls as appropriate.
• Provides support for departmental activities, including monitoring inventory of supplies and supply ordering, managing, stock forms and supplies, and requests from clinical staff.
• Coordinates daily efforts to edit and correct registration and billing errors during the full registration process.
• Identifies ways to reduce follow-up, repetitive, or corrective work.
• Utilizes EMR and scheduling software programs to facilitate workflow.
• Manages patient tracking system ensuring correct location of patients.
• Provides training to other staff on all aspects of department-specific work as a designated preceptor, including orientation to the department and hospital, registration process, and customer service.
• Acts as information resource for all departmental staff in regard to registration and workflow activities.
• Attends education programs for the department at the direction of supervisor and educates other staff.
• Performs other patient focused tasks.
• Assigns patient transports, disseminates tasks to PSAs, monitor is pneumatic tube station and distributing contents, distributes scrubs, witnesses consent signatures, faxes charts, and pulls charts for QA audits or patient care follow up.
• Coordinates transportation for discharged or transferred patients as needed.

Minimum Education & Experience

• Associate's degree and 3 years of related work experience required
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience in an Emergency Department setting preferred and
• 1 year in a position demonstrating the ability to work with minimum supervision and direct an office operation preferred and

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Medical terminology experience preferred
• Experience with PICIS and Flowcast preferred
• Ability to type accurately preferred
• Skills related to achievement of customer satisfaction preferred
• Ability to deal calmly but efficiently with medical professionals during life threatening situations preferred
• Maintain a strong customer service approach at all times, with the ability to handle diverse personalities preferred

Lead Youth Tracker

The Lead Youth Tracker will act as back up for Program Director providing supervision to the program and sharing in the on call responsibilities as needed. The Lead Youth Tracker must maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working hours other than regular work schedule and evenings, weekends and holidays. The Lead Youth Tracker will also be responsible for completing assigned tracks daily.

Essential Functions:

• Assist with supervision of program staff ensuring all daily contacts are made by assigned Youth Trackers.
• Monitor and ensure staff receives all relevant trainings as well as assisting with on the job training for new staff.
• Maintain appropriate communications with Program Director and Youth Trackers.
• Conduct face to face daily contacts at various locations with youth assigned.
• Assist Program Director with maintenance of global positioning satellites (GPS) unit inventory.
• Enter data promptly into the Depart of Juvenile Justice's Juvenile Tracking System (JTS) and Southwest Key Programs database, Efforts to Outcome (ETO).
• Maintain and monitor cleanliness, security and safety of facility.
• Develop and maintain helping relationship to motivate youth accountability.
• Examine case file to become familiar with youth history and keep up to date with information as it is added to file.
• Complete required documentation, including discharge information, for assigned youth in an accurate and timely manner.
• Notify Program Director immediately in the event of a youth crisis, suspected illegal activity or any other youth/program incident.
• Regular and punctual attendance.

Other Functions:

• Provide youth advocacy in the areas of health, education, vocation, legal and family work.
• Provide crisis intervention and administers first aid when necessary.
• Provide daily contacts with youth as needed; subject to be on call and be available to provide staff assistance.
• Assist in coordination and participation in youth activities and groups when needed.
• Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• A combination of one of the following:
  • A Bachelor's degree and one year of experience working with troubled youth.
  • Substantial completion of college degree plus two years working with youth. Substantial completion is defined as having completed at least half of the coursework to obtain a college degree and enrolled in college.
• Maintain clean driving record, active drivers license, registration and vehicle insurance (must be supplied to Program Director before expiration).
• Must have reliable transportation, registration and maintain state mandated car insurance- and responsible for supplying renewal documents to the Program Director.
• Clear result from a criminal background check by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
• Clear drug screen results from the organization's designated medical facility.
• Possess good verbal and writing skills.
• Ability to assist with goal oriented casework.
• Ability to manage conflict and perform well in crisis situations.
• Ability to confront clients with problematic behaviors and set limits

Physical Demands:

Must be able to obtain First Aid Certification (CPR). Must be able to verify client's whereabouts by driving, sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time. Daily use of various office equipment. Bending, stooping, climbing up stairs and lifting up to 15 lbs. required to complete daily tasks.

Work Environment:

This is a youth tracking program which requires daily contact at various client locations. Work shifts are subject to change. Noise levels vary from mild to moderate. This position may require extended periods of time in an automobile. Exposed to prevalent weather conditions.
