Our employees describe working here as rewarding, challenging, supportive, fun, caring and dynamic. We keep things balanced, and that's not something you hear often in public accounting. We encourage our employees to follow their passions and get involved in the community – and have fun doing it. For the employees who want to go in the office, you can enjoy a healthy workout at our gym or take a break with a relaxing massage.

We provide professional services to businesses and their leaders, offering experienced guidance and strategic planning at every stage of business growth—from start-up to succession. We personally serve entrepreneurial, public, non-profit and individual clients.

We have over 600 employees providing traditional accounting, audit and tax services, and business, risk and forensic advisory services. But more than that, we’re focused on bringing our clients joy—minimizing stress, opening up new possibilities, and making life sweeter.

Job Details

We are seeking an Assistant Controller to lead our accounting operations and establish strong processes as we continue to scale. In this hands-on role, you’ll oversee the monthly close, billing, accounts payable/receivable, and other core accounting functions to ensure accuracy and consistency across the business. You will work closely with the VP of Finance and leadership team, playing a critical role in building the foundation of our finance function and offering a clear path for career growth into a Controller role.

To thrive in this role, you should bring a strong accounting background with experience in B2B SaaS or high-growth technology companies. A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required, and a CPA is strongly preferred. This position reports directly to the VP of Finance and offers high visibility across the organization, including regular interaction with company leadership and external stakeholders.

What You'll Do

Own core accounting operations — lead the monthly close, prepare reconciliations, and manage AP, AR, billing, and payroll to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
Strengthen processes and controls — establish scalable accounting policies, implement best practices, and maintain compliance across reporting, tax, and audit requirements.
Be hands-on and solutions-oriented — roll up your sleeves to execute journal entries, billing runs, and reconciliations while driving improvements in systems and workflows.
Partner with finance leadership — collaborate closely with the VP of Finance on building a best-in-class finance function, providing accurate data and insight to support decision-making and long-term growth.

What We're Looking For

CPA license and/or bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance with 3–8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong accounting foundation with experience in core processes such as monthly close, reconciliations, billing, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial regulations, and compliance requirements, including ASC 606.
Experience in SaaS or technology businesses, ideally PE-backed or high-growth.
Exposure to external audits and M&A integration, with the ability to prepare audit-ready financials and support post-deal accounting work.
Familiarity with modern finance tools such as QuickBooks, Stripe, Ramp, and Carta, with the ability to adapt quickly to new ERP platforms.
Hands-on and detail-oriented, comfortable rolling up your sleeves in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Clear communicator who can work cross-functionally and build trust with leadership, auditors, and external partners.

BAS Technical Lead / Operations Lead
Location: Nashville, TN

About the Opportunity: We are looking for a BAS Technical Lead / Operations Lead to play a key role in building and growing our Nashville operation. This is a unique opportunity for someone with a strong technical background in Building Automation Systems (BAS/DDC) who is ready to take the next step into leadership and help develop a growing local operation.

This is not a traditional desk-based management position. Initially, you will be part of a small, hands-on team and will be involved in everything from technical support and project execution to customer relationships, operational planning, and future hiring. As the Nashville operation grows, this position will have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility for the team and overall local operations. We are looking for someone who is entrepreneurial, technically strong, adaptable, and excited about helping build something from the ground up.

What You'll Do
  • Help lead the day-to-day operations and growth of the Nashville location
  • Serve as a technical resource for BAS/DDC projects, troubleshooting, programming, commissioning, and system integration
  • Support projects from startup through final commissioning and customer turnover
  • Coordinate project schedules, manpower, materials, subcontractors, and customer expectations
  • Work directly with customers, mechanical contractors, engineers, and other project stakeholders
  • Assist with estimating, project planning, proposals, and identifying new opportunities
  • Help establish processes and best practices for the growing Nashville operation
  • Support and eventually help lead the hiring, training, and development of additional team members
  • Maintain strong project quality, customer satisfaction, and financial performance
  • Work closely with company leadership to develop and execute the long-term growth strategy for the Nashville market

What We're Looking For
  • Strong technical background in Building Automation Systems, DDC controls, or HVAC controls
  • Experience with BAS programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, engineering, project management, or field operations
  • Solid understanding of HVAC equipment and sequences of operation, including AHUs, RTUs, VAVs, central plants, boilers, chillers, pumps, and related systems
  • Familiarity with BACnet and building automation networks
  • Previous leadership, project management, team lead, or supervisory experience
  • Comfortable working in a small, growing operation where responsibilities may extend beyond a traditional job description
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills
  • Ability to take ownership, make decisions, and solve problems independently
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in helping grow a team and local market

Experience with platforms such as Reliable Controls, Niagara, Schneider Electric, Automated Logic, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Trane, Distech, Delta Controls, Honeywell, or similar BAS/DDC systems is a plus.

Why This Role?
This is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a growing Nashville operation while having the backing and resources of an established building automation company.
For the right person, this position can grow well beyond a traditional technical role. You'll have the opportunity to help build the team, shape the operation, develop customer relationships, and ultimately take ownership of the Nashville market.

If you're a strong BAS professional who wants more responsibility and the opportunity to help build something rather than simply step into an established operation, we'd like to hear from you.
