Overview

The Special Access Program (SAP) Security Support – Security Specialist Level II provides mid-level SAP security support for DTRA programs, compartments, sub-compartments, projects, and facilities. Duties and Responsibilities

This will be done on an annual basis or as requested by the government. Must possess the ability to document the results of the inspection in writing and effectively present briefings of a visual and oral nature regarding those results.
• Interface with personnel at the OSW level related to security matters and be capable of explaining the reason security actions were taken or are about to be taken in support of the program.
• Assist in conducting core compliance inspections at program locations and assisting in “get well” processes following those inspections with security shortfalls, deficiencies or significant findings or an unsatisfactory rating.
• Provide direct support to the DTRA Alternative Compensatory Control Measure program through validation of need-to-know, scheduling briefings, submitting accesses and other tasking as required by policy.

Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience

• Associate’s degree.
• Three (3) years of experience working within a Special Access Program (SAP) environment.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Detailed knowledge of SAP security management principles, policies, procedures, and practices.

• Coordinate with other DSMS program teams, planning and create cybersecurity architecture and design documents for all DSMS cybersecurity architecture ensuring it is compliant with DoD and other organizational IA policies and guidance.
• Employing best practices when implementing security controls within an IS including software engineering methodologies, system/security engineering principle, secure design, secure architecture and secure coding techniques
• Developing cybersecurity architecture and design plans for communication and collaboration products, operating system platforms including servers, devices, management products, applications and overall security related to implementing these products.
• Providing security engineering support for accreditation of DSMS Networks
• Integrating cybersecurity expertise into lifecycle management, planning architecture and design management, migration and deployment, and system testing and implementation
• Researching, developing, testing, and documenting architectures and solutions for implementing new cybersecurity technologies to provide more seamless information collaboration and cybersecurity capabilities for the program and its user base.
• Developing and providing a criticality analysis of logic-bearing system components (e.g., hardware, firmware, and software) implementing, protecting, or introducing vulnerability(s) to each function
• Developing and updating mission criticality analysis(-es), vulnerability assessment(s), risk assessments(s), and identification and counter measurement implementation(s) for Mission- Critical Functions; ensuring updated assumptions, rationale and results related to the criticality analyses, vulnerability assessments, risk assessments, supply chain risk information, and risk mitigations are made available for Government review.
• Assessment & Authorization (A&A): Preparing and submitting Interim Authorization to Test (IATT) and Authority to Operate (ATO) requests with Plans of Action and Milestones (PoAMs) Developing, maintaining, and coordinating required Body of Evidence (BoE) documentation for system assets Collaborating across Technical Services and Security Services teams, as well as customer agency stakeholders, to ensure compliance Tracking workflow for lien remediation/resolution activities and entering tracking tool updates Evaluating system change requests and assessing both system and organizational risks associated with modifications Continuous Monitoring (ConMon): Executing ConMon activities within established timelines, including BoE collection and tracking tool updates Conducting recurring reviews of system state and security posture to ensure that systems are being operated securely, and information systems security policies and procedures are being implemented as defined. Providing recommendations for security control implementation and identifying necessary countermeasures or mitigating controls Responding to queries and requests for security information and reports Incident Response & Security Oversight: Supporting investigations of security incidents and reporting findings as necessary Assisting in the communication, implementation and enforcement of security policies and plans for data, applications, hardware, and telecommunications systems Advising stakeholders on information assurance standards, dependencies, and emerging security technologies Engaging with Enterprise Security Services tools (e.g., Trellix, ACAS) to track and remediate vulnerabilities and compliance deficiencies

Job Summary

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization, and an important national resource.

AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental tests and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, and ground and flight tests. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.

BNH currently has an exciting career opportunity available for a Sr. Platform Engineer to join our team at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee.

Job Duties:

• Install, configure, administer, maintain, and upgrade Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform clusters.
• Manage OpenShift cluster lifecycle activities, including version upgrades, patching, backup and recovery, capacity planning, and configuration management.
• Configure and troubleshoot core platform services, including cluster networking, ingress, DNS, certificates, identity and access management, role-based access control, storage integration, and security controls.
• Monitor cluster health, performance, capacity, availability, and resource utilization; identify trends and implement corrective or preventive actions.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues involving OpenShift, Kubernetes, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, containerized workloads, networking, storage, and supporting infrastructure.
• Implement and maintain platform automation using tools such as Ansible, GitOps, Helm, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Develop, maintain, and improve deployment patterns, operational runbooks, standard operating procedures, architecture documentation, and knowledge articles.
• Apply system security configurations, vulnerability remediation, hardening, patching, and configuration baselines in accordance with applicable program and organizational requirements.
• Apply, validate, document, and remediate Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)
• Partner with application, cybersecurity, network, storage, and infrastructure teams to onboard workloads and resolve cross-functional technical issues.
• Provide technical guidance to less-experienced administrators and engineers.
• Participate in maintenance windows and provide after-hours support for critical infrastructure incidents when required.
• Research emerging information-system technologies and recommend improvements that increase platform reliability, security, automation, or customer usability.
• Provide professional technical support to AEDC customers, teammates, and partner contractors.
• It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or Computer Engineering with five (5) years of professional experience in platform engineering, systems engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure operations.
• In lieu of bachelor’s degree 9 years of experience similar to the above.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance and maintain authorized user access to the AEDC local area network.
• U.S. Citizenship is required due to federal government contract compliance requirements and the necessity to access secure federal databases and networks on Arnold Air Force Base.

Preferred Qualifications

• CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Direct experience installing, upgrading, and operating Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform in a production environment.
• Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration, Red Hat Certified System Administrator, Red Hat Certified Engineer, or comparable Kubernetes/OpenShift certification.
• Experience operating OpenShift in restricted, disconnected, or highly regulated DoD environments.
• Experience with container networking, software-defined networking, ingress, load balancing, DNS, certificates, and identity services.
• Experience integrating OpenShift with enterprise storage platforms, including NetApp ONTAP, NFS, persistent volumes, and storage classes.
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring, logging, and alerting tools, such as SolarWinds, Splunk, or comparable platforms.
• Experience with vulnerability management, security hardening, ACAS, Risk Management Framework activities, and security documentation.
• Experience implementing and assessing DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), including use of automated compliance tools, exception documentation, and remediation tracking.
• Experience with VMware, Active Directory, Veeam, and enterprise backup/recovery processes.
• Familiarity with high-performance computing or test-and-evaluation environments.
• Experience supporting Linux, and Windows server environments.
